Humanitarian work ...

Picture
Obviously we are running a commercial business with the music studio and Vocational Music Training School but also we are committed to providing humanitarian programs that run in and around Gulu, Northern Uganda. The 22 years of war / rebellion has severely affected, unfortunately, and 'beaten' up so much that the rest of Uganda and the West take for granted.

Since 2004 our team has used a rather large percentage of any of our small income to support a variety of projects in the North.

  1. Over one hundred war orphans paid back into school education including paying for their medical bills.
  2. A fledgling Nursery School in Alero Internally Displaced Peoples’ (IDP) refugee camp 30Km west of Gulu town.
  3. Makonya Micro Finance Company who now has over 900 women on revolving ‘soft’ loans to push up their small businesses in order to be independent and self-sustaining based on the Bangladesh Grameen Bank principles. We are assisting in the following IDP camps – Opit, Alero, Palenga, Patiko and in Gulu town.
  4. Playing keyboards and teaching the Christ Church choir in Gulu.
  5. Supporting a group of women and girl-childs who are living with HIV / AIDS.
  6. Supporting victims of the rebel Lords Resistance Army who have suffered brutal amputations plus their families.

All these programs are continuing, as we speak, and are now run by local Ugandan partners who we have trained. We want / wish that these deserving projects can continue successfully therefore a percentage of the income from Sounds International will go straight up to the North. Your co-operation and support is gratefully appreciated and, aside from anything else, shows that you have a good heart. God bless.
